Hustle RGT18 – robust protection against root aphids

Root aphids are a major pest in some southern regions of Australia, attacking the root systems of ryegrass plants, reducing vigour, and slowing dry matter production. In severe cases, they can even lead to plant loss.

As part of the patenting process, RAGT engaged Agri-Bio to assess Hustle RGT18’s efficacy against root aphids. The trial confirmed that Hustle RGT18 provides high-level protection. Independent trials in Warrnambool and Northwest Tasmania—both regions with known root aphid pressure—further validated its resilience over three years.

Importantly, these trials also confirmed that Hustle with AR1 endophyte does not provide the same protection against root aphids. For agronomists and growers, this means confidence in choosing Hustle RGT18 when root aphids are a concern.
